Talk is NOT Cheap

Most, if not all, of us have heard the phrase, "Talk is cheap". I understand the overall context of what is being implied; it is not enough to say the right things but to back those words with the right actions. However, to suggest that words do not cost something is to be ignorant. And I am sure none of us wants to be considered as such.
Proverbs 20:15 says, "There is gold and a multitude of jewels, but knowledgeable lips are a rare treasure."

Wisdom is a treasure, and so are the words that carry it. When we speak with wisdom, whether in person or online, we can bring significant value to those who hear or read our words. Let's be inspired to use our words to uplift and inspire others, for the words we use, whether in self-talk or communication with others, matter.
Contrary to the old saying, 'sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me, ' the truth is that words have the power to heal or hurt. They can bring comfort and encouragement, much like a warm blanket on a cold day or a refreshing drink on a hot summer day. But they can also cut deeper than any blade, leaving wounds that can remain open for years if proper healing is not allowed.
Talk is NOT Cheap- Is it Worth it?
In that same chapter of Proverbs, verse nineteen reads, "The one who reveals secrets is a constant gossip; avoid someone with a big mouth."
Is this the reputation you're building for yourself? As a sower of discord, a bearer of idle words. I hope not. Or you may know a leader who, unfortunately, fits this description. Pray for them and share this post with them in hopes that they will find it helpful and reflective to ignite positive change.
Our words are like seeds, and the harvest they produce can be either valuable or destructive. What a person gives is what comes back to them. Whether it's blessings or curses, prosperity or sorrow, life or death, the outcomes are a direct result of the seeds we sow with our words.
Gossip is similar to a wildfire; one word kindles a small spark, and as more words and participants are drafted into the verbal assassination of others, it sets an uncontrollable blaze that can destroy all that is in its path, including the tongue with no filter. All participants are like a wind with no weight because the LORD is not with them; He will not bless defiled things.
So why call this out? Because, as children of God, brothers and sisters in Christ, and people of influence, major or minor, we should hold ourselves and others accountable and not be partakers of mindless activities.
We want what we speak to produce godly results. And when those moments present themselves to listen to ungodly chatter, may we be bold and courageous and set a standard of integrity that we will not stand for foolishness.
Leader, may you and I be the difference. May we walk in purity, run with endurance, and stand in holiness.
You Carry the Sound of Heaven
Earlier this year, the LORD gave me a beautiful vision of Him as a Daddy Eagle and me as an eaglet. His wings were outstretched to ward off any predators or enemies. I knew God was showing me that He covers me and He is my place of safety.
And I say the same to you, if you are the unwilling centerpiece that is the target of careless fire, that you are covered by God and built to last. Be humble, but be discerning and know that you do not have to vindicate yourself. Also, know that you do not have to belittle anyone by spreading lies or even the truth about them in a malicious way to make yourself feel better. Take all of your feelings, cares, perceptions, perspectives, and injustices to God. His counsel and guidance are the best and will not lead you astray. In the words of David in the Bible, "I have never seen the righteous forsaken." [Psalm 37:25]
Let the words you share be considered a great treasure to all who hear them—Extraordinaire and full of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. What sounds are you releasing in your areas of leadership? May it be sound waves that echo a spirit of excellence, the heart of God.
Lead well. Speak well.
The scriptures used are in the versions: Christian Standard Bible.
